Day Treatment services are provided in a licensed facility
and are for youth who have not been able to function well in
a traditional school setting due to their mental or
behavioral health disorders. Our Day Treatment
programs are located within actual schools in the community.
We currently serve children in elementary and middle school
grades.
The goal of Day Treatment is to reduce the child's
symptoms/behaviors which might include:
-
Anger management problems
-
Disruptive behaviors
-
Lack of respect
-
Bullying
-
Lack of social skills or
lack of appropriate friendships
-
Social isolation or
withdrawal
-
Depression and anxiety
Once the behaviors have been
reduced or eliminated and new, more positive behaviors have
been established, the youth is transitioned back into the
regular school system.
Day Treatment services are
provided in a small group setting, and there are always at
least two (2) staff with any group of children. In
addition, individual and family therapy is provided as part
of the program.
The Day Treatment staff
coordinates their services with school personnel, with the
youth's outside psychiatrist/therapist and with other
agencies who might be working on behalf of the youth.
Our staff also might link the youth and their family to
other, needed services and supports within the community.
The program staff includes
licensed therapists, case managers and other qualified
professionals who are college graduates with experience
working with the youth population and other staff who
receive training in working with this population.
